March 2026 - Two Night Backpacking Trip (3/27-3/29)

Looking to build on your backpacking experience or take on a moderately challenging multi-night adventure? Join us for an intermediate-level backpacking trip along the many trails in Rothrock State Forest (Centre County, Pennsylvania). This route features greater mileage and more varied terrain than our beginner programs, covering approximately 13 miles with around 1,900 feet of total elevation gain. This hike can be physically demanding but offers a variety of scenery, from tranquil headwater streams to sweeping scenic vistas, making it an engaging and rewarding experience for hikers ready to expand their backcountry skills. Throughout this trek we will instruct and guide participants in essential intermediate skills, including gear systems, efficient packing, water sourcing and filtering, food storage, navigation basics, and Leave No Trace.

The trip runs from Friday, March 27th to Sunday, March 29th and is capped at 8 participants. More specific details, including meeting location and start time, will be provided upon booking along with a detailed packing list.

Please note that conditions in March can be cold, especially overnight. Participants should prepare and pack gear suitable for colder temperatures. If you have any questions about appropriate equipment or how to prepare for these conditions, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.

If needed, backpacking gear rentals and meal kits are available for an additional fee. Rentals are limited, so be sure to reserve early.

*Prior to arrival a copy of the "General Information/Health Questionnaire" and "Liability Release" forms must be completed, signed, and returned to Peaks & Pines Backcountry Guides via email (info@peaksandpinesguides.com).
